Privacy Policy
Emulsion is a photo editor made and operated by Emulsion Labs. It is designed so that your photos, edits, and neural depth models stay on your phone.
Android Permissions & Why They Are Used
Emulsion requests only minimal permissions and avoids broad file storage access:

Not requested. Photos are selected through Android's system photo picker (PickVisualMedia) and exported through MediaStore to Pictures/Emulsion.

What Stays on Your Device
The photos you open are read from your phone. Edits are saved in the app's private sandbox storage along with local thumbnail caches. Exported photos are saved to Pictures/Emulsion and Downloads/Emulsion. You can delete saved edits and preview caches at any time (Clear all on the start screen, or Forget in the Library) or by removing the app.
Depth Estimation Models
The neural models that calculate depth and subject outlines are downloaded by Google Play via Dynamic Feature Delivery the first time you use the Depth tool. The models execute locally on your phone; photos are never uploaded or sent off-device. Google Play's privacy policy governs the store download.
Feedback Collection
Emulsion contains no user accounts, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party advertisements. The only information that ever leaves your phone is feedback you choose to send:
- Your written feedback text.
- An optional screenshot of the editor (which you can redact or exclude).
- Optional device details: phone make/model, Android OS version, GPU chipset, app version, language, and timestamp.
This data is stored in Google Firebase in a project owned by Emulsion Labs so that we can read and address your feedback.
Purchases
Emulsion Pro is bought through Google Play In-App Billing. Google Play handles your payment and billing details; Emulsion only receives purchase entitlement tokens and never sees your financial details.
Delete Your Data
Because Emulsion has no user accounts, the only data we hold is feedback you voluntarily sent. To request that your feedback be deleted, email [EMAIL] [CONFIRM: Contact email] and we will delete it within 30 days.
